After the sellout success of the November concert, we are looking forward to welcoming back Haru Ushigusa on May 10th to play the much-loved Bruch Violin Concerto No 1.
Haru has played with us many times before, most recently in November 2023 when she played – to great acclaim – the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. We will also be playing Schubert’s Overture in the Italian Style, and Mendelssohn’s ‘Lost’ Symphony. This is his String Symphony No 8 which he re-wrote to include wind parts. He was only 13 when he
wrote the original symphony (he wrote 13 between the ages of 12 and 14!) but it shows a maturity far beyond his years. The concert will be conducted by Ben Knowles, who has conducted NDS on several occasions before.
It has been six years since we increased our prices, but rising costs have forced us to do so for this concert. Tickets will be £13, with concessions £10, but each ticket will now include a programme, which we currently sell separately. As usual, they will be available
